The culinary Capital of the Caribbean, with world-class fine dining all around. Here you find the largest selection of fine European cuisine paired with the best wines!

You can head to Grand-Case for a fancy night out, to a high-end French restaurant such as Le Pressoir or La Villa. Or bring the kids to the fun courtyard at Blue Martini for delicious burgers. If Caribbean food is what you’re after, Grand-Case has several famous lolos. Now you're probably asking yourself "What on earth is a Lolo?" The lolos of Grand-Case are typical Local "Lolo" Restaurants where you can taste flavors of St. Martin local cuisine. If you want to have a local experience and enjoy a simple but delicious meal such as, barbecued ribs, grilled chicken, rice and peas, plantain and ultra fresh lobster or fish, then you should head right to Grand-Case.

The Main Strip of grand Case is a one way road that follows the shoreline and is filled with boutiques, restaurants and beach clubs such as Tropic's Beach Beach Bar,  Rainbow Café and Captain Frenchy’s. On the north side of the town, you will find a public parking area (we would recommend you to go early on weekends). Park there, free of charge and explore on foot.

Friar's Bay at 978 Beach Lounge

Lined with a few coconut trees, beautiful Friar’s Bay and its calm, translucent and shallow waters are ideal for a dip with the kids, with all the charms of a Caribbean beach. Whether it’s after your morning shopping downtown or for a relaxing afterwork drinks session at the end of the day, 978 Beach Lounge is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on this quiet beach, which was previously occupied by the iconic Kali’s Beach Bar, which is the actual adjoining bar.

It’s easy to fall in love with the collection of tropical cocktails mixed at 978 Beach, best sipped as you rest your eyes and lay on a beach mattress or seated near the waves. When hunger strikes, the Creole flavors emanating from the kitchen will whet your appetite. What’s 978 Beach’s specialty? Grilled meats and big platters.

Don’t leave 978 Beach before sunset. As the sky changes color, it’s time to nibble on some tapas and enjoy the intimacy of the beach with friends or loved ones.

Loterie Farm

Built on the land of an historic plantation, Loterie Farm is now an all-round resort that hugs the green and pretty edges of Pic Paradis hill.

It’s got sparkling pools and treehouse-style cabanas peppering its well-manicured gardens, and offers a series of eateries on-site, from the earthy Bamboo Room to the Hidden Forest Café.

However, most travelers head here to get the heart thumping and adrenaline flowing; to try their hand on the series of Tarzan-esque ziplines and swinging rope bridges that the folk of Loterie have installed through the surrounding jungle canopies.

Just roll up and ask for entry to the appropriately-named Fly Zone!

Go Guavaberry Tasting

St. Martin’s local take on the Caribbean’s favourite liquor (that’s rum, just in case anyone was in doubt) is a potent infusion of sugarcane and the curious little guavaberries that grow like wildfire amidst the central hills of the island.

And there’s surely nowhere better for tasting this curious tipple than at the Guavaberry Colombier Tradition store in Marigot, where rack upon rack and bottle upon bottle of the schnapps-style drink are touted by perennially-smiling local staff.

Expect plenty of free samples of different liquors, jams and straight shooters too, so don’t think you can leave with a totally clear head!

Maho Beach With the Planes

Are you looking to relax in tranquility? Keep looking – Maho Bay beckons to amateur photographers, aviation fanatics and curious thrill-seekers. The southwestern beach's fame is due to its unusual proximity to the Princess Juliana International Airport. Every afternoon, travelers love to stand on the sands to take pictures of the approaching planes and feel their jet blasts.

For many travelers, Maho Bay was a must-see bucket list-experience. For others, the beach was too small and crowded to enjoy. If you're looking for a quieter afternoon along the shore, try the island's other beaches, such as Mullet Bay.

Enjoying the beach and the planes is free, so splurge a little at the Sunset Beach Bar, which has a great vantage point. If you're not too scared, you can also try some windsurfing.

Kayak To Pinel Island

Pinel Island is a small slice of paradise on the east coast of St. Martin, facing Cul-de-Sac Bay. The large parking lot at the pier makes it easy to park and there are shuttle boats running every 30 minutes to and from the island. Pinel is one of St. Martin’s most beautiful landscapes, with its sheltered sandy spit and shallow, calm waters that are ideal for wading in with a cocktail or exploring the sea floor with a mask and snorkel.

There are two restaurants which are Karibuni and Yellow beach that will delight your tastebuds with their Caribbean specialties, local fish and, of course, lobster. If you walk along the coastline, in 10 minutes you’ll reach the wild and stony beach where Atlantic waves crash.

At nightfall, everyone leaves Pinel except for its official inhabitants, the iguanas and hermit crabs that continue to breed thanks to the careful protection of the site.

Stroll the Philipsburg Boardwalk

Arching its way along the length of Great Bay Beach, where the city of Philipsburg meets the Caribbean Sea, the town’s Boardwalk is a lively affair.

Hot dog concession stands and conch-touting holes-in-the-wall spill out onto the paving, while the smells of barbecued chicken drift from the countless eateries and their palm-shaded terraces.

Shopaholics can enjoy a sprawling bazaar at one end of the promenade, laden with arts and crafts, Reggae-coloured bracelets and the like.

And there are also plenty of places to settle down and grab a cold one just meters from the sand, which means some seriously good people watching opportunities to boot!
